Pu’u o Mahuka, translated as “hill of escape,” is one of two places where wives of the ancient Hawaiian chiefs gave birth. The temple covers over 5-acres on a cliff overlooking Waimea Bay. Three enclosures adjoin a raised central alter for human sacrifice.
